During Sunday’s high-profile cricket match between India and Pakistan, the BCCI expressed serious concern over the conduct of Pakistani pacers Haris Rauf and Farhan, accusing them of engaging in provocative behavior aimed at intimidating the Indian team. While the Indian players maintained focus on their performance, Rauf and Farhan reportedly made gestures perceived as politically charged and unsportsmanlike, including mimicking crashing airplanes and gunfire celebrations after taking wickets. Videos of the incidents quickly went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention from fans and commentators.

Haris Rauf, frustrated at being unable to take Indian wickets, allegedly gestured aggressively toward fans near the boundary, while Farhan reportedly celebrated taking a wicket with an imitation gunshot. Indian fans responded with chants praising Virat Kohli, recalling his decisive back-to-back sixes against Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Rauf’s actions were also seen as mocking unverified claims by Pakistan regarding “Operation Sindhur,” including gestures indicating “6-0” toward supporters.
In response, the BCCI has decided to file a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC), urging strict disciplinary measures against both players. The board has demanded that Rauf and Farhan face sanctions, including the possibility of lifetime bans, to maintain the integrity of the game and prevent the conflation of sportsmanship with political provocations.
