Hyderabad: The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall across parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over the next four days, triggered by a persisting low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal and the formation of another system on Thursday. In Andhra Pradesh, North Coastal districts are likely to experience heavy rains with thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Coastal districts may witness similar conditions on Thursday and Friday, according to the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA). Residents have been urged to exercise caution.

Telangana is expected to see heavy rainfall in districts including Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Bhupalpally, Mahabubabad, Suryapet, Warangal, Siddipet, Sirisilla, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Medak, and Bhadradri-Kothagudem. Scattered showers are also predicted between September 25 and 27, the IMD said. Several Andhra Pradesh districts, including Srikakulam, Parvathipuram, Vizianagaram, Alluri, and Eluru, may also witness heavy rainfall in the coming days.

Authorities have issued an orange alert for Anakapalli and Kakinada districts due to thunderstorms, while a yellow alert has been declared for Visakhapatnam, NTR, Eluru, Tirupati, Nellore, and Nandyal. The APSDMA warned of strong winds up to 40–50 km/h, urging people to avoid standing near hoardings, trees, and dilapidated structures, and to stay indoors during rainfall. Farmers, field laborers, and cattle herders have been advised to take precautions amid lightning and adverse weather conditions.
