Jammu & Kashmir: High tension prevailed along the India-Pakistan border on Tuesday after Pakistan violated the ceasefire in the Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir. According to defence sources, Pakistani forces opened fire along the Line of Control (LoC) for nearly 15 minutes, prompting immediate retaliation from the Indian Army.

No firing has been reported since the exchange; however, intelligence agencies have warned of a possible infiltration attempt by militants. Security forces have been placed on high alert, and additional personnel have been deployed along the LoC to prevent any untoward incidents.

The violation occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector on the sixth anniversary of Article 370’s abrogation. Earlier this year, in April, Pakistan-backed militants attacked tourists in Pahalgam, resulting in 26 deaths. India responded with “Operation Sindoor,” targeting terror bases across the border with drone strikes. Following that episode, both countries had agreed to a ceasefire, which Pakistan has now breached. Authorities are yet to confirm whether there were any casualties in the latest exchange of fire.
