Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced a key policy decision benefiting Anganwadi Helpers, raising the maximum age limit for their promotion as Anganwadi Teachers from 45 to 50 years. The move was approved by Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod (Seethakka), who signed the relevant file on Thursday.
According to department officials, this decision will benefit approximately 4,322 Anganwadi Helpers aged between 45 and 50 across the state, making them eligible for teacher promotions. The decision follows persistent appeals from Anganwadi unions to reconsider the age cap.

Officials clarified that there are no administrative hurdles in promoting eligible helpers below 50 years of age. With the recent increase in the retirement age for Anganwadi Teachers from 60 to 65 years, newly promoted teachers will still have up to 15 years of service.
The official government order is expected to be issued shortly. The announcement has been welcomed by thousands of Anganwadi Helpers, who expressed their gratitude to Minister Seethakka for addressing their long-standing demand.
