Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has granted interim relief to former YSR Congress Party MLA Kethireddy Venkatarami Reddy by imposing a Status quo order in connection with a controversial land dispute involving a guest house in Sri Sathya Sai district.

The case pertains to 2.42 acres of government land located on Gurralakonda near the Dharmavaram tank. Revenue authorities identified the land, under Survey No. 905-2, as government-owned. However, it was found to be registered in the name of Gali Vasumathi, wife of Venkatarami Reddy’s brother Kethireddy Venkata Krishnareddy.

According to records, the land was originally allotted by the government in 1960 for agricultural use to three individuals—A.K. Narayana of Motumarla, Obulamma of Lakshmi Chennakeshavapuram, and Thalari Anjinamma of Sriharipuram in Ramagiri mandal. The land was later sold to Vasumathi and registered in her name, allegedly in violation of norms prohibiting the sale of government-allotted agricultural land.

Revenue officials issued notices to the original allottees as well as to Vasumathi. However, the notice sent to Vasumathi was returned unclaimed. Based on earlier directions from the High Court, officials attempted to demarcate and reclaim the land, but were unable to proceed after finding the gates to the property locked.

In response, Kethireddy filed a lunch motion petition in the High Court, which has now directed that the current state of the land be maintained until the final resolution of the case. The court’s status quo order restrains any further administrative or enforcement action related to the property in the interim.

Further proceedings on the matter are expected in the coming weeks.
