Political tensions are rising in Telangana as Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction with the Congress high command over cabinet appointments. Sources indicate that he had proposed a ministerial berth for his wife, Padmavathi, but the party leadership declined the request. Additionally, he is said to have sought an extra ministerial position for his loyalists, citing their contributions to the party.
Uttam Kumar Reddy recently held a brief 20-minute meeting with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi before leaving abruptly, signaling his displeasure. Reports also suggest he is unhappy with the allocation of two ministerial positions to the Komatireddy Venkat Reddy family.
Meanwhile, the Congress leadership has approved the Telangana cabinet expansion, which is set to take place on April 3. As per initial reports, the expansion will include two BCs, one Reddy, and one SC leader. The AICC has sought recommendations from the State Core Committee, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud.
Among the key contenders for ministerial posts are Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy, Sudarshan Reddy, and Mal Reddy, with one of them likely to secure a position. In the BC category, Aadi Srinivas and Srihari Mudiraj are under consideration, while Chennur MLA Vivek Venkataswamy is expected to represent the SC community.
Currently, six ministerial positions remain vacant, with reports suggesting that four to five will be filled. If a minority representative is considered, MLC Ameer Ali Khan is expected to be inducted into the cabinet.
