CM Revanth Reddy has alleged that political considerations were behind the Centre’s refusal to grant him permission for his US visit, stating that the central government denied permission purely from a political angle. He explained that he was unable to travel to Boston in the US because the Centre had not granted the required clearance. Revanth Reddy posted this on ‘X’. Responding to the matter while on his London leg of the trip, he made clear on Sunday that he would speak in detail on the Centre’s denial of permission for his US visit once he returned to Hyderabad. He explained that, since the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) had not granted clearance for the trip, he was returning to Hyderabad without visiting Boston. The Chief Minister said he would reach Hyderabad within a few hours and would speak on the remaining aspects after arriving there. He noted that he had completed all meetings and engagements scheduled as part of his London visit. He thanked Congress leaders and the public who had extended support for his US visit, offering special thanks to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. “I thank all the party leaders, the public, and everyone who has stood in support over the past three days,” CM Revanth Reddy said.

As is known, CM Revanth Reddy had departed from New Delhi for London last Wednesday midnight as part of a 10-day foreign tour. After concluding his London leg, he was scheduled to travel to the US. However, the Union Ministry of External Affairs denied him permission for the US leg of the trip. The Ministry also explained the reasons behind denying permission for the visit. The Centre’s refusal to permit CM Revanth’s US visit has drawn widespread criticism.

AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge also reacted to the development, alleging that the Centre had deliberately blocked Telangana CM Revanth’s US visit. Meanwhile, the US chapter of the Indian Overseas Congress strongly objected to the Centre’s denial of permission for CM Revanth Reddy’s US visit, alleging that granting permission for the Gujarat CM’s US visit while denying it to the Telangana CM was proof of double standards.
