The Andhra Pradesh High Court has expressed strong concern over illegal constructions in Visakhapatnam, particularly those violating Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms along the Bheemili beach. The court has issued stern directives regarding the compound wall constructed by YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy’s daughter, Neha Reddy. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has been instructed to take immediate action against the unauthorized construction.
The high court’s order comes in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by JanaSena corporator Murthy, who challenged the legality of the construction. The PIL highlighted that approximately three-and-a-half acres of land in Bheemili limits were purchased by private parties, including Neha Reddy, and that illegal construction had been carried out close to the sea, disregarding regulations and flattening sand dunes.
Following the court’s orders, authorities are now preparing to demolish the illegal structure. The case underscores the ongoing scrutiny of CRZ violations and the enforcement of environmental laws in coastal areas.
