YS Sharmila Criticizes PM Modi and CM Chandrababu Over BC Issues

AP Congress State President YS Sharmila launched another round of criticism against Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu, taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) account to express her views. She referred to Prime Minister Modi as a BC (Backward Class) and emphasized that it is a source of pride for the BC community to have a BC person as Prime Minister. However, she sarcastically remarked that while Modi may feel proud of his BC status, BCs themselves do not feel the same. She stated, “A BC Prime Minister brings no benefits to the BC community.”

Allegations on BJP’s Changing Stance on BCs

Sharmila reminded her followers that in 2017, Union Minister Rajnath Singh had promised to conduct a caste enumeration for BCs, but later reversed his stance when BJP returned to power. She accused the BJP of lacking any real concern for BCs, alleging that the party only serves the interests of the upper caste and corporate elites like Adani and Ambani. According to Sharmila, BCs are merely used as voting machines by Modi, and the BJP does not care about their welfare.

Criticism of Chandrababu’s Stance on BCs

Sharmila also took a dig at CM Chandrababu Naidu, stating that he, too, does not care about BCs. She credited late YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) as the only leader to have truly thought about the welfare of BCs. Under YSR’s leadership, the BC list was expanded to 143, and he implemented policies like fee reimbursement to elevate BC children academically. YSR, according to Sharmila, is the true leader for BCs, and they embraced him as their own.

Sharmila recalled how BC leader R. Krishnaiah launched an indefinite fast for BC rights during YSR’s tenure, which led to the acceptance of 17 demands, including the proposal for a 50% reservation in the assembly. She labeled Chandrababu as a traitor to BCs, accusing him of offering false promises to the community, including funds for BCs and a special protection law, none of which materialized.

In her post, Sharmila concluded by criticizing Chandrababu for misleading BCs with false assurances and emphasized that while YSR worked for BCs, Chandrababu’s administration has failed to deliver any real benefits to the community.
