Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Congress State President YS Sharmila has strongly criticized Chief Minister Chandrababu and the Modi government, accusing the CM of presenting an illusionary Vision 2047 while ignoring crucial division promises. She emphasized that Andhra Pradesh urgently needs the fulfillment of commitments made during state division, rather than mere visions and plans.
YS Sharmila pointed out that to make Andhra Pradesh a leading state, it is essential to honor the commitments made by the central government during the state’s division. She accused the central and state governments of neglecting these promises for over a decade and called out the failure to implement essential projects and initiatives.

She specifically mentioned past commitments, including the promise of a special status for the state by the Congress-led UPA government during division negotiations. These commitments included significant support for the Polavaram project, funding for the new capital, and special economic packages for backward regions, akin to initiatives in Bundelkhand. She also referenced provisions in Schedule 13 for infrastructure projects and industrial development.
She highlighted crucial initiatives outlined in the division act, such as the Kadapa Steel Plant, Duggirala Port, railway zones, the Petroleum University, the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, metro rail projects in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, and a Rapid Rail between Hyderabad and Vijayawada. However, she pointed out that none of these projects have come to fruition.

She stated that if these division commitments had been implemented in the past ten years, there would have been tax concessions, the creation of thousands of new industries, and millions of job opportunities. She added that the completion of the Polavaram project would have significantly boosted the state’s agricultural potential.
YS Sharmila concluded that implementing these division commitments would have transformed Andhra Pradesh into a leading state in the nation, with better infrastructure, employment opportunities, and overall development. She called on both the central and state governments to prioritize and fulfill these commitments to bring lasting progress and prosperity to the state.
