Islamabad: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan met his sister Uzma Khan at Adiala Jail on Tuesday evening amid widespread rumors of his alleged death in custody. Uzma Khan confirmed that Khan is safe but alleged he is being subjected to mental harassment while in solitary confinement. She also stated that he holds certain parties responsible for spreading false death rumors. The meeting drew attention as PTI members across Rawalpindi were preparing for large-scale protests despite government restrictions.

Earlier reports suggested that the visit was allowed only under strict gag conditions, which Uzma Khan denied. Over the past week, tensions had risen outside Adiala Jail due to rumors about Khan’s death, exacerbated by the denial of family visitation rights despite court orders. PTI supporters called for demonstrations in Islamabad and Rawalpindi demanding the restoration of visitation privileges. The Shehbaz Sharif-led government imposed bans on large gatherings in Rawalpindi, creating a heightened security environment. Family members also claimed that Khan was confined in a death cell and that authorities were withholding details about his health.
Security measures around Adiala Jail included the deployment of over 700 personnel and the establishment of five additional checkpoints. Despite the unrest, jail authorities and the government have stated that Imran Khan is in good health and receiving full medical care. Reports of his transfer from Adiala Jail were false, with officials reaffirming that he remains safe under proper supervision.
