Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy has once again raised serious concerns over the Union Government’s handling of Operation Sindoor, specifically questioning the alleged crash of Rafale fighter jets during the military engagement with Pakistan.
Addressing reporters, Uttam stated that despite repeated queries from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on whether any Rafale aircraft crashed during the operation, the External Affairs Minister has remained silent. He further pointed out that Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan had reportedly confirmed the crash of a Rafale jet, adding that the Centre must provide an official explanation.
“We are proud of the Indian Air Force’s success in Operation Sindoor and its precise strikes on terrorist camps. It was a commendable operation. But questions remain unanswered. Why hasn’t the government responded to Rahul Gandhi’s questions? Even US President Donald Trump tweeted about the ceasefire arrangement — how is that possible unless there was international involvement?” Uttam asked.

The minister also expressed concern over the delay in the delivery of defence equipment. “It is worrisome that the Air Chief Marshal has himself spoken about delays in the supply of fighter aircraft and weaponry. Light combat aircraft deliveries are also behind schedule. In the face of threats from China and Pakistan, the country’s defence preparedness must be strengthened immediately,” he said.
Uttam further criticised the Centre for failing to attract top talent to the defence sector’s research and development (R\&D) wings. He urged the Union Government to act swiftly and address the structural challenges in defence procurement and innovation.
