Hyderabad: Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy made a significant announcement regarding Telangana’s agricultural success, stating that the state has secured the top position in the country for paddy production. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the Congress government’s strong commitment to supporting farmers.
Minister Uttam Kumar made the remarks during a review meeting held at the Hanumakonda Collectorate, focusing on the Irrigation and Public Supply departments of the erstwhile Warangal district. Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy also participated in the session.

In his address, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy highlighted the historic step of distributing fine rice at ration shops, ensuring that all eligible individuals will receive free rice. He also reiterated the completion of the Devadula project and mentioned that the state government has been working on revamping the Irrigation Department, with plans to resolve all issues within two years. Additionally, he noted that 68 TMC of Godavari water has been allocated to the Seethamma Sagar project after extensive discussions with the central government.
On the welfare front, Minister Revanth Reddy provided an update on the status of ration card applications. He confirmed that all pending applications for ration cards have been cleared, and a new quota for applications will be made available by the end of May. Over 2 crore people are currently benefiting from the state’s ration card scheme, and around 20% of the pending applications have been addressed. The state government is also offering an opportunity for new members to apply for ration cards and is considering issuing two types of ration cards to streamline the process.
