Hyderabad: Telangana Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday made serious allegations against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and former Minister T. Harish Rao, accusing them of compromising Telangana’s water interests to benefit Andhra Pradesh during their ten-year tenure.
Speaking to the media, Uttam alleged that the BRS government had supported projects that facilitated the diversion of Krishna river water to Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that the previous administration did not attempt to halt the construction of the Muchumarri project, which he said caused significant damage to Telangana.

Calling the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Project a “death warrant” for the state, he said the KCR-led government had cooperated in the daily diversion of 3 TMC of water to Andhra Pradesh. He further alleged that KCR colluded with then AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and facilitated large-scale water diversion during his regime — even more than during the undivided Andhra Pradesh period.
Uttam also criticized the BRS for delaying representation to the Apex Council until the Rayalaseema project tenders were finalised. He claimed this was part of a secret pact between KCR and Jagan. Dismissing the BRS’s recent statements on Banakacharla as “blatant lies,” he remarked that their leaders should consider changing their names to “Goebbels Rao.” He added sarcastically that if Nazi propagandist Goebbels were alive, he would be astonished at their audacity.
