District of Columbia US Attorney Jeanine Pirro shared key details of the case on social media, stating that the suspect had carried out reconnaissance at the hotel a day prior to the incident. Investigators believe Allen intended to target Trump during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, with CCTV footage showing him moving suspiciously through corridors and near restricted areas of the hotel.
A critical moment captured in the video shows a Secret Service agent firing three rounds in an attempt to neutralise the suspect. Authorities confirmed that Allen was not injured in the exchange and managed to evade immediate capture, despite the swift response from security personnel.
The Justice Department also released slow-motion footage to provide greater clarity on the sequence of events, highlighting both the suspect’s movements and the rapid response of security teams. The incident has intensified discussions around security protocols for high-profile political figures in the United States.
