Vikarabad: Tragedy struck at the Sarpanpally Project in Vikarabad district on Saturday when a boat carrying four tourists capsized, resulting in the deaths of two women. The victims, identified as Ritika (44) and Poonam (50), were part of a family from Hyderabad visiting a nearby resort.
According to officials, the accident occurred while the group was boating in the project reservoir. Locals managed to rescue three people from the water, though two of them remain in critical condition at a nearby hospital. Preliminary reports suggest that the boating operation lacked official permission, raising concerns over safety violations.
Despite multiple incidents reported in the past, residents allege that authorities have failed to enforce proper safety measures at the site. The deceased were originally from Bihar and had been residing in Miyapur, Hyderabad. A probe has been launched into the incident.
