Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Apple Inc., urging the tech giant to avoid manufacturing in India. Trump stated that if Apple continues to invest in production outside the United States—specifically in India—it would face a 25% tariff on products sold in the American market.

The remarks were made via a social media post, where Trump insisted that iPhones intended for sale in the U.S. should be manufactured domestically. He warned that devices produced in India or other foreign nations would attract a significant import duty.

Despite the warning, Apple has not shown signs of altering its strategic investments in India, where it has been steadily expanding iPhone production. The move is part of Apple’s broader effort to diversify its supply chain away from China.

Following Trump’s statement, Apple’s shares reportedly declined by 3% on the stock market, reflecting investor concerns over potential trade tensions and rising operational costs. Apple has yet to issue an official response to the former president’s comments.
