Hyderabad: Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Friday said that the tariffs imposed by former U.S. President Donald Trump on goods from various countries could indirectly benefit India by redirecting global investments.
Speaking at the second edition of the “India–Latin America and Caribbean Countries Business Conclave,” organised by the Global India Business Forum (GIBF) at Park Hyatt, Sridhar Babu said the current global climate has made India an attractive destination for investors. “We are working to capitalise on this opportunity by attracting more investments into Telangana,” he added.
Urging representatives from Latin American and Caribbean nations to encourage their industries to invest in Telangana, the minister highlighted the state’s favourable industrial ecosystem and the incentives provided by the government.
Sridhar Babu revealed that six global firms — including three from South Korea — have expressed interest in investing in the Zaheerabad National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ). He also stated that Telangana is focused on promoting industries beyond metropolitan areas, encouraging growth in tier-2 and tier-3 cities as well.
The minister said Telangana has introduced a dedicated policy to elevate MSMEs to global standards and emphasized the state’s commitment to supporting investors across sectors. “We are also promoting the agro-processing sector to transform farmers into entrepreneurs,” he said.
Sridhar Babu concluded by stating that Telangana is poised to play a significant role in shaping the country’s economic future.
