Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed that several countries, including Pakistan, are currently conducting nuclear weapons tests. In an interview with CBS News, Trump alleged that nations such as China, Russia, North Korea, and Pakistan have been carrying out nuclear tests without public disclosure, while the United States remains transparent about its actions.
Trump stated that the U.S. has so far refrained from such tests but indicated a possible policy shift. “Other countries are conducting nuclear tests secretly. We won’t stay passive anymore — we will also begin testing,” he said. He added that although Russia and China possess significant nuclear stockpiles, the United States holds even greater capabilities, claiming it could “destroy the world 150 times” with its arsenal. Trump further revealed that he had discussed nuclear disarmament with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and that preparations for U.S. nuclear testing have already begun, though the timeline and location remain undisclosed.
Trump also referenced recent geopolitical developments, including Chinese President Xi Jinping’s meeting in Busan, South Korea. Writing on Truth Social, he said that while he had avoided nuclear tests during his presidency, changing global dynamics now warrant reconsideration. He suggested that with Russia, China, and other nations expanding their nuclear capacities, the U.S. may need to resume testing to maintain strategic balance within the next five years.
