Hyderabad: The Telangana Education Department has clarified that the recently conducted Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 will not involve any normalization of scores. Officials explained that, since all candidates in each district appeared in a single exam session, there is no requirement for normalization.

Earlier reports had suggested that online exams could require normalization due to variations in difficulty across multiple sessions. However, authorities confirmed that such concerns are unfounded for this year’s TET. With all candidates in a district taking the same session and receiving identical question papers, officials said there is no risk of unfairness. They also noted that introducing normalization at this stage could lead to potential legal complications.

Normalization is typically applied when exams are conducted in multiple sessions to ensure fairness, as question papers may vary in difficulty. In Telangana, nearly every district held exams in a single session, making normalization unnecessary, senior education officials explained.

The department is preparing to release the preliminary answer key on January 30, 2026. To ensure accuracy, a special committee of subject experts has been appointed under the supervision of School Education Director and TET Chairman Naveen Nicholas. The committee will thoroughly review all answers before the key is officially released.

Officials emphasized that the process is being handled with utmost care to avoid errors and ensure transparency for all candidates.
