Elon Musk’s electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla recently launched its first showroom in India and has now inaugurated its second showroom in Delhi, spanning approximately 8,200 square feet. The company is also planning to install supercharger stations in key locations including Noida, Arjan, and Saket. Tesla had earlier opened its maiden showroom and supercharger station in Mumbai and aims to expand its charging network across eight major cities such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Jaipur. Tesla is also set to open an additional showroom in Hyderabad, signaling its growing presence in the region.
Tesla vehicles in India are charged primarily via V4 superchargers, priced at Rs. 24 per kilowatt, while 11 kWh AC charging costs Rs. 11 per kilowatt. The fast-charging V4 supercharger enables the newly launched Model Y to reach a 267 km range within 15 minutes of charging. Tesla currently offers two variants in the domestic market: the Model Y RWD (Standard Range) priced at Rs. 59.89 lakh and the Model Y RWD (Long Range) priced at Rs. 67.89 lakh. A full charge provides a range of 500 to 600 km. These prices are showroom rates and may vary based on on-road costs, state taxes, insurance, and other charges. Official updates are expected soon following Tesla’s launch in Hyderabad.
Globally, efforts to reduce carbon emissions have accelerated the adoption of electric vehicles. While electric bikes have gained popularity in India, electric cars are now witnessing increased demand. State governments are also offering incentives and reduced charges to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles, indicating a promising future for the sector.
