Hyderabad: Political tensions escalated between Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Konda Surekha over development works in Medaram. Speaking publicly, Srinivas Reddy emphasized his integrity, stating he had no need to compete for a Rs 70 crore contract. He highlighted that Rs 211 crore had already been allocated for Medaram’s development under the master plan and expressed disbelief over any complaints lodged against him, questioning their necessity. He also lauded Ministers Seethakka and Surekha, saying both had worked diligently like the legendary figures Sammakka and Sarakka.
Reports indicate that Surekha recently filed a direct complaint with the high command, alleging that Reddy was intervening in Medaram tenders without her consent, extending his influence beyond his own department. She reportedly brought the matter to the attention of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, intensifying the issue in state political circles.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is said to have taken the matter seriously, reportedly displeased that a minister bypassed him to approach the high command. Sources indicate the CM viewed it as inappropriate to create controversy over the state’s prestigious Medaram development projects. A report on Surekha’s actions was reportedly submitted to the high command following the CM’s instructions.
Meanwhile, Srinivas Reddy personally inspected development activities related to the Medaram festival today, accompanied by local MLA and Minister Seethakka. Konda Surekha, minister responsible for the district’s Devasthanam department, did not participate, drawing attention and sparking speculation about ongoing ministerial differences.
