Machilipatnam: High tension erupted near the residence of former minister Perni Nani as Jana Sena Party (JSP) workers staged a protest against him on Thursday. The protest was triggered by Nani’s recent remarks against Deputy Chief Minister and JSP Chief Pawan Kalyan amid the ongoing Laddu controversy. The activists demanded an immediate apology from Nani, claiming his comments were inappropriate.

JSP workers gathered outside Nani’s house, staging a sit-in protest and attempting to enter the premises. In a counter-protest, YSRCP supporters, led by Perni Kittu, rallied near the residence, resulting in a standoff between the two groups. Police were deployed in large numbers to control the situation.

Addressing the media, Perni Nani issued a stern warning to Pawan Kalyan and his supporters, stating that YSRCP is not intimidated by Pawan’s actions. “We are not afraid of Pawan Kalyan’s theatrics. You entered politics after dancing in films, but you lack any principles,” he said. Nani further accused Pawan of making remarks that could ignite religious tensions, following previous attempts to sow discord among castes. He urged Pawan to reconsider his statements, emphasizing that such comments only fuel divisiveness.
