Late-night tension erupted at KU as Registrar Malla Reddy was confined by students at Pothana Ladies Hostel. Angered by a ceiling collapse that narrowly missed them, hostel residents staged a midnight protest demanding the registrar’s immediate resignation, citing negligence of their safety.
Students lamented the lack of proper facilities, with reports of snakes and dogs entering the hostel premises. They alleged repeated complaints about rotten eggs and other issues had gone unanswered. Determined to resolve their grievances, they vowed to keep the registrar confined until their concerns were addressed.
The incident at Pothana Girls’ Hostel, where a ceiling collapsed but luckily no one was harmed, added to their frustration. Previous incidents, including a serious injury from a falling fan, highlighted ongoing safety concerns that had been ignored despite protests.
Students voiced their distress over living conditions in outdated buildings, expressing fear for their safety amid ongoing structural risks and inadequate maintenance.
