Gongadi Trisha, the 19-year-old cricket prodigy from Telangana, played a pivotal role in leading Team India to victory in the ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. Trish’s remarkable performance, which included scoring 309 runs across seven matches, including a century, earned her the distinction of being the tournament’s top run-scorer. In addition to her batting prowess, Trisha also made significant contributions with the ball, claiming seven wickets.

Born on December 15, 2005, in Bhadradri Kothagudem district, Telangana, Trisha hails from a sports-centric family. Her father, Ramreddy, who has been her strong supporter since childhood, encouraged her interest in cricket, recognizing her potential early on. Trisha began developing her cricketing skills from a young age, joining the Under-16 district team at the age of eight and later progressing to the Under-19 team by the time she was 12. She also earned a spot on the Hyderabad women’s team, where she made a mark by winning the BCCI ‘Player of the Year’ award at a young age.

A leg-spinner with a powerful batting style, Trisha has established herself as an all-rounder, setting records for the most dot balls bowled in the competition. Despite the financial challenges of pursuing cricket training, her father consistently supported her dreams, ensuring she had the resources needed to succeed.

In the World Cup final, India dominated South Africa, who were restricted to just 82 runs in their 20 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat first. Van Wurst (23) was the top scorer for South Africa. India chased down the target of 83, losing only one wicket to secure the victory. Trisha’s all-round brilliance was instrumental in securing India’s second consecutive U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup title.
