Hyderabad: Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy on Monday announced that the state government will appoint a Governance Officer (GPVO) in every revenue village as part of efforts to strengthen the rural revenue administration system. The move aims to ensure accessible and efficient delivery of services at the grassroots level.
Addressing a meeting with Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar and representatives of revenue employee unions at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat, the minister said that a special eligibility test had recently been conducted to provide opportunities for former Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and Village Revenue Assistants (VRAs) to be appointed as GPVOs. A total of 3,454 candidates have qualified in the examination.
Responding to requests from employee associations, the minister also announced plans to conduct another eligibility test to give additional chances to former VROs and VAOs. He criticised the previous government for dismantling the VRO-VRA system, which he said had distanced revenue services from the public.
The minister added that the state has already introduced the Bhoo Bharati Act to address land-related issues and is committed to restoring efficient service delivery through people-centric reforms. The appointment of governance officers in every village marks a significant step toward that goal.
