New administrative teams are set to assume office today in village panchayats across Telangana, with elected sarpanches, vice-sarpanches, and ward members scheduled to take their oath of office at 10:30 AM in all 12,702 villages. Panchayat officials have made all necessary arrangements, and the ceremonies will be conducted under the supervision of designated officers. Ward members will take their oath first, followed by sarpanches and vice-sarpanches, pledging to uphold the Constitution and work for village development.
Following the oath-taking, the first meeting of each village panchayat will be held under the leadership of the newly elected sarpanch. During these meetings, the administrative teams are expected to express gratitude to the electorate for their support in the elections. Police have been deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the events and prevent any untoward incidents.
The elections, held in three phases on December 11, 14, and 17, were delayed for two years due to various reasons. Originally scheduled for December 20, the oath-taking ceremony was postponed to December 22 for auspicious timing considerations. With the formation of the new administrative teams, full responsibility for village governance will now rest with the elected representatives, creating a festive atmosphere across rural Telangana.
