Hyderabad: The first case of bird flu in Telangana has been confirmed in Nelapatla village, Choutuppal mandal, Yadadri district, according to District Veterinary Officer Janayya. Laboratory tests confirmed the infection after 1,000 chickens died at a local poultry farm over the past week. Officials have urged the public not to panic, assuring that containment measures are in place.

Authorities have declared a 10-kilometer surveillance zone around the affected area, with five poultry farms within a one-kilometer radius placed under observation. Samples from these farms have been sent to Hyderabad for further testing. Additionally, a police picket and a control room have been set up in Nelapatla to monitor the situation.
Suspected Bird Flu Outbreak in Nalgonda
In a separate incident, 7,000 chickens have died in poultry farms at Cherukupalli village, Ketepalli mandal, Nalgonda district. While bird flu is suspected, official confirmation is pending. A poultry farmer reported that despite repeated medical interventions by veterinary doctors from Hyderabad, the outbreak could not be controlled, resulting in losses estimated at ₹3 lakh.
