The Telangana government on Friday presented its annual budget for the financial year, with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka introducing an outlay of ₹3,24,234 crore in the Assembly. He stated that the government’s core objective is to deliver social and economic justice to every citizen, adding that the administration is guided by the principles of B. R. Ambedkar. The budget was also tabled in the Legislative Council by Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.
The budget comprises a revenue expenditure of ₹2,34,406 crore and a capital expenditure of ₹47,267 crore, with proposals to raise fresh loans worth ₹73,383 crore. Among key announcements, the government introduced the “Indiramma Family Life Insurance” scheme, providing ₹5 lakh coverage to 1.15 crore families with an allocation of ₹4,000 crore, to be implemented from June 2. It also announced a mid-day meal scheme for intermediate students and a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 for students pursuing ITI and ITC courses.
Sector-wise, ₹26,674 crore has been allocated to education, ₹13,679 crore to healthcare, ₹23,179 crore to agriculture, and ₹21,285 crore to the power sector. Welfare allocations include ₹11,784 crore for SC welfare, ₹7,934 crore for ST welfare, ₹12,511 crore for BC welfare, and ₹3,769 crore for minorities. Additional allocations include ₹7,366 crore for civil supplies, ₹3,143 crore for women and child welfare, ₹1,529 crore for animal husbandry, ₹998 crore for labour, and ₹1,224 crore for tourism.
Major scheme allocations include ₹50,713 crore for the implementation of six guarantees, ₹18,000 crore for Rythu Bharosa, ₹14,861 crore for Cheyutha, ₹5,500 crore for Indiramma housing, ₹4,305 crore for the Mahalakshmi scheme, ₹4,343 crore for scholarships, and ₹3,683 crore for Kalyana Lakshmi. Other key provisions include ₹3,500 crore for agricultural bonuses, ₹2,080 crore for Gruha Jyothi, ₹1,143 crore for Rajiv Aarogyasri, ₹723 crore for the Mahalakshmi gas subsidy scheme, ₹5,000 crore for Young India Schools, ₹1,500 crore for Musi Riverfront development, ₹1,000 crore for Osmania University, and ₹600 crore for Metro Rail Phase-2.
