Hyderabad: Telangana MLC Kavitha has intensified her political engagement and grassroots activities amid rising tensions within the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party. While actively participating in BRS programs, she is simultaneously focusing on strengthening the Telangana Jagruthi movement by organizing leadership training camps aimed at empowering young leaders. During a recent camp, Kavitha’s call for new leadership in Telangana sparked widespread attention, signaling her growing assertiveness.
Sources reveal that Kavitha has distanced herself from BRS leadership, particularly from KTR, despite the party being led by KCR. Reports suggest internal efforts by KTR to marginalize her influence, as evidenced by her recent removal from the honorary chairperson position of the BRS-affiliated Singareni Workers’ Union (TBJKS), replaced by former minister Kopula Eshwar. Discontented with the treatment, Kavitha is reportedly considering quitting the BRS and expanding her role within Telangana Jagruthi or potentially launching a new political party.
In response, the BRS is undertaking efforts to retain its cadre, organizing parallel youth training programs to counter the growth of Telangana Jagruthi. Meanwhile, Kavitha is also preparing to formally exit TBJKS and align with the Hindu Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), a national independent labor union with historical roots in the Singareni coalfields. HMS, previously led by former minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, maintains a relatively autonomous presence in the region. Kavitha’s impending meetings with HMS leaders have fueled speculation about her possible leadership role within the union, potentially challenging BRS’s dominance in Singareni.
This development marks a significant political realignment within Telangana’s labor and party dynamics, with stakeholders closely monitoring Kavitha’s next moves and their wider implications.
