In Myanmar, the earthquake severely disrupted daily life, leaving thousands displaced. Initial reports suggest that the death toll could be substantial. The tremors, recorded at magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4 on the Richter scale, were also felt across China, India, Vietnam, and other East Asian nations. However, Thailand and Myanmar remain the most affected regions.

Telangana Congress MLA Makkan Singh Raj Thakur and his family narrowly escaped the earthquake in Bangkok. The legislator, along with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law, was in Thailand on vacation when the tremors struck. The hotel they were staying in later collapsed, but the family had exited the premises just minutes before the incident, averting a major tragedy. The MLA and his family are currently in a safe location and are expected to return to India soon.
