The Telangana High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 20,000 on several Group 1 candidates for filing petitions with false affidavits. The court also ordered legal action against them.
The issue arose after allegations of irregularities surfaced regarding the evaluation of the Group 1 Mains examination conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC). Nineteen candidates filed petitions claiming discrepancies between the marks listed in memos and those published on the official TSPSC website. They demanded re-evaluation and transparent disclosure of their marks.

During the hearing on Monday, the High Court found that the petitioners had submitted false affidavits, thereby misleading the judiciary. Taking serious note of this, the court fined each petitioner Rs 20,000 and instructed the Judicial Registrar to initiate appropriate legal proceedings against them.
In a related development, the Telangana High Court had earlier issued interim orders staying the Group 1 recruitment process following the announcement of results. In response, TSPSC filed an appeal challenging the interim stay. The Chief Justice’s Bench is scheduled to hear the matter on Tuesday.
