Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday announced that the Telangana government has decided to allocate 4.5 lakh houses in the first phase under the Indiramma housing scheme. Distributing house pattas at Nakrekal in Nalgonda district, the minister stated that the scheme aims to provide 3,500 houses in each constituency, irrespective of caste or religion.
He further said that the government plans to construct 20 lakh houses for the poor before the next elections. Beneficiaries will receive Rs 5 lakh in four instalments, with funds directly credited to their bank accounts to avoid middlemen. The government will also resolve legal issues related to land for housing, he added.
Meanwhile, BRS MLA and former minister Harish Rao wrote a letter to Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka, highlighting the poor state of rural administration and the plight of Panchayat secretaries. He noted that during the previous government’s tenure, the performance of Panchayat secretaries and funding for village panchayats had set national benchmarks. He urged the state government to immediately release pending funds to Gram Panchayats.
