Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has made significant decisions regarding sand transportation and excavation in the state. The CM has ordered the provision of free sand for the construction of Indiramma houses and instructed authorities to ensure that sand is available to consumers at lower prices.
On Monday, CM Revanth Reddy chaired a review meeting on the development of minerals and sand mining in the state, offering guidance to officials on several critical issues. He stressed the importance of curbing black market activities and ensuring access to sand for the economically disadvantaged.
The Chief Minister emphasized, “It is essential to eliminate the black market for sand. Sand must be made accessible to the poor. Strict action should be taken against the sand mafia. Officials must conduct inspections at sand reaches, and any illegal sand transportation must be dealt with firmly. Special officers will be appointed to oversee sand transportation. District collectors and SPs should take charge of preventing illegal sand transport, while the Hydra will be responsible for controlling illegal sand transportation in Hyderabad. Cameras and solar lights should be installed at all sand reaches, and stockyards should be secured with robust fencing. Action must be taken to ensure that consumers receive the sand they book within 48 hours.”
In addition, the state government is providing Rs 5 lakh in assistance for house construction to individuals with land ownership in the first phase of the Indiramma housing scheme.
