The Telangana government is set to unveil the Indira Mahila Shakti Policy on March 8 at a women’s conference at Parade Ground, Secunderabad. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will announce the policy, which aims to enhance economic empowerment and welfare initiatives for women across the state.
Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari held a review meeting with officials to oversee arrangements for the event, given the expected large turnout. Instructions have been issued to provide necessary amenities, including buttermilk packets, to ensure the comfort of attendees.

Under this policy, the government plans to introduce new economic empowerment schemes for women. A pilot initiative allowing women to operate petrol stations has already been implemented in Narayanpet district, and efforts are underway to expand it to all 31 districts in collaboration with oil companies. Additionally, the government will launch RTC rental buses for women’s self-help groups, with an initial approval for 50 buses. Plans are also in place to provide interest-free loans to women’s groups.
As part of the event, the foundation stone for solar power plants will be laid virtually. Additionally, the government will issue a notification for the recruitment of 14,000 Anganwadi teachers and helpers.
The Congress-led Telangana government, which has already introduced free bus services for women, is looking to implement more welfare measures under this policy. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling all election promises made to women and is set to roll out multiple initiatives to ensure their economic and social empowerment.
