Hyderabad:  Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka emphasized the Telangana government’s commitment to elevating the state’s film industry on Monday during the inaugural meeting of the Gaddar Film Awards Committee at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat. He asserted that the Telugu film industry should aspire to achieve global recognition.

Vikramarka praised Gaddar for introducing Telangana’s emotions to the world through his art and music, stating, “Gaddar is a symbol for the entire state.” He expressed the hope that the Telangana film industry would not only thrive nationally but also attain international acclaim.

Government Ready to Address Industry Concerns

The Deputy Chief Minister assured that the government is prepared to listen to and address any issues facing the film industry. He urged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to relay this message. Discussing film awards, Vikramarka noted that while Nandi Awards had traditionally been celebrated like a festival, the previous government had neglected this initiative following the bifurcation of the state. He highlighted that Telangana is synonymous with cultural life, where music and dance serve as vital means of expression during both joyous and challenging times.

Celebrating Telangana’s Cultural Richness

Vikramarka underscored the greatness of Telangana’s culture, which embraces inclusivity and love. He acknowledged the struggles of the people who fought for statehood amidst social inequalities and contradictions. “Gaddar is a legendary figure who mobilized society toward the achievement of Telangana,” he stated, adding that he is a unique icon, likely to emerge only once in a century.

Gaddar Film Awards to Be Instituted

In a significant announcement, the state government decided to institute film awards in Gaddar’s name, as detailed to the committee members. The Deputy Chief Minister indicated that Gaddar awards could be extended to various fields, aligning with other award formats. He emphasized the importance of honoring all members of the film industry and ensuring that every award carries prestige.

Vikramarka called for the committee to determine a date for the Gaddar Awards ceremony and reiterated the government’s recognition of Gaddar as a beloved figure in Telangana. He encouraged the committee to convene soon to expedite decision-making.

Commendation for Integrated Schools Initiative

During the meeting, prominent film producer Daggubati Suresh praised the state government’s integrated schools concept, describing it as exceptional. The committee members advocated for the establishment of a specialized course in acting skills at the Skill University initiated by the state government. The Deputy Chief Minister confirmed that decisions regarding the inclusion of acting and cultural subjects in the integrated school and skill university would be made after thorough consideration.

The meeting also featured contributions from Special Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao and committee members Narsing Rao, Tanikella Bharani, Suresh Babu, Tammareddy Bharadwaja, Dil Raju, Hari Shankar, Vandemataram Srinivas, Allani Sridhar, and Information Commissioner Hanumantha Rao, among others.
