Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced that new ration cards will be issued to eligible beneficiaries starting January 26. The much-anticipated move is aimed at providing ration cards to those who have been waiting for them across the state.
On Monday, the government released detailed guidelines for the application process. As per the guidelines, the new ration cards will be issued based on data collected from the caste census survey. District Collectors and GHMC Commissioners have been entrusted with field-level verification to ensure accurate issuance of the cards.
Applicants will be allowed to add or remove names from existing ration card records. The lists of applicants will be displayed at village meetings and ward offices for public scrutiny before final approval.
At the mandal level, MPDOs will handle the application process, while in urban areas, Municipal Commissioners will oversee the applications through Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The government’s initiative aims to ensure that all eligible families in Telangana receive ration cards in a transparent manner.
