The Revanth Reddy government is set to issue Family Digital Cards to every household in Telangana, aiming to consolidate access to ration, health services, and various welfare schemes through a single card. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a review meeting with officials from the Health and Civil Supplies departments on Monday to discuss this initiative.
The decision comes after similar implementations in states like Rajasthan, Haryana, and Karnataka, which have successfully issued cards that incorporate comprehensive family details. Chief Minister Reddy instructed officials to study these models and prepare a detailed report on their benefits and challenges.
To kick off the initiative, Revanth proposed a pilot project involving one urban and one rural area from each legislative constituency in the state. He emphasized that the Family Digital Cards should ensure that all eligible beneficiaries can access welfare schemes, enabling them to obtain ration and health services at any location. Each card will include health profiles for all family members, which are intended to assist with long-term medical services. Families will be encouraged to keep their cards updated with any changes in membership.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed officials to establish monitoring systems at the district level to oversee the Family Digital Card initiative. The meeting included key figures such as ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Damodar Rajanarasimha, Chief Secretary Shantikumari, Chief Minister’s Special Secretary Ajith Reddy, and other officials from the Civil Supplies and Health departments.
