Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has identified that 75% of the applications submitted under the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS) lack complete details. In response, the government has announced that applicants will be given another opportunity to upload the necessary documents. The Municipal and Urban Development Department issued a statement on Friday, urging applicants to promptly attach the required details.
Earlier this year, in January, the Revanth Reddy government initiated the LRS application review process, issuing guidelines to regularize unauthorized and illegal layouts. The rules and regulations stipulated in Government Orders 131, dated August 31, 2020, and 135, dated July 31, 2023, will now apply to the LRS scheme. This scheme is applicable only to unauthorized and illegal layouts and plots registered before August 26, 2020. Applications received by the government before October 15, 2020, will be considered for review.
Upon reviewing the 4,28,232 current applications, the government found that only 60,213 have been approved so far, resulting in a revenue collection of ₹96.90 crores.
Given that 75% of the applications are missing essential details, the government has provided applicants with another opportunity to submit the correct documents, such as sale deeds, encumbrance certificates, market value certificates, and layout copies. Applicants will also have the option to update their phone numbers, addresses, or other details via OTP sent to their mobile phones. Additionally, help desks will be established at municipalities, urban development authorities, corporations, and district collectorates to assist applicants. The government has advised those with any doubts to contact these centers for further assistance.
