The Telangana government has announced that wine shops across the state will remain open until midnight on December 31, 2024, in light of the New Year celebrations. The state’s Excise Department has issued official orders allowing liquor outlets to operate until 12:00 AM, providing an opportunity for citizens to celebrate the arrival of the new year.

Additionally, bars, pubs, and restaurants will be permitted to continue alcohol sales until 1:00 AM, subject to central government authorization for special events. However, the government has imposed restrictions on drug usage during these celebrations, urging authorities to maintain heightened surveillance over events and parties, especially within the GHMC jurisdiction.
This decision has been welcomed by liquor vendors, with expectations that it will generate significant revenue for the state. The government’s move aims to facilitate smooth celebrations while ensuring safety and compliance.
