The Telangana Congress government continues its focus on farmer welfare by implementing several significant initiatives. Among them, a Rs 2 lakh farmer loan waiver has been rolled out, disbursing nearly Rs 18,000 crore to farmers across three phases. The government has also initiated paddy procurement and is gearing up to provide a Rs 500 per quintal bonus for fine rice varieties.
In a recent update, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced plans to release funds for the much-awaited Rythu Bharosa crop investment support scheme. Once the Cabinet subcommittee submits its report, the state will deposit funds directly into farmers’ bank accounts. The minister stated that all necessary preparations are underway to ensure this, with efforts targeted for completion by the last week of December.
Direct Financial Assistance for Farmers
Minister Tummala emphasized the Congress government’s commitment to the Rythu Bharosa scheme, assuring that the funds would be transferred transparently to farmers’ accounts without any irregularities. He revealed that a Cabinet subcommittee was formed to finalize the modalities for this initiative.
Under the scheme, Rs 15,000 per acre will soon be credited to farmers’ bank accounts. The disbursement aligns with the government’s broader Praja Vijayotsava celebrations, scheduled from November 14 to December 9, marking the completion of one year of Congress rule. The event will include the formal rollout of the Rythu Bharosa crop investment support.
Enhanced Support Compared to Past Schemes
Previously, the Rythu Bandhu scheme, implemented by the former government, provided Rs 10,000 per acre annually, distributed in two phases of Rs 5,000 each during the Kharif and Rabi seasons. The Congress government has revamped this program under the Rythu Bharosa banner, raising the amount to Rs 15,000 per acre, which will also be disbursed in two phases.
The minister reiterated that the scheme would be implemented meticulously to avoid any irregularities. The state plans to begin with one acre and gradually extend the benefits to all eligible farmers by the end of December. Minister Tummala’s announcement has been met with widespread appreciation from farmers, bringing renewed hope to the agricultural community.
