Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has clarified his recent remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Backward Class (BC) status, stating that his comments were misinterpreted. Addressing the controversy, Revanth asserted that he did not personally insult the Prime Minister but merely pointed out that Modi was not born into a BC community. He further stated that because of this, the Prime Minister lacks genuine commitment toward BC welfare.

The Chief Minister accused BJP leaders Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay of deliberately distorting his statements. He challenged Modi to prove his commitment to backward classes by ensuring the inclusion of caste enumeration in the national census. Revanth reiterated that Telangana’s caste census would serve as a roadmap for the entire country.
During his visit to Delhi, Revanth met senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for nearly an hour, reportedly discussing key political issues, including the caste census and Scheduled Caste (SC) categorization. Speaking to the media post-meeting, he stated, “Telangana is a model state in conducting a caste census and SC categorization. I will implement Rahul Gandhi’s vision without compromise. Based on the caste census data, we will establish a commission or committee to formulate welfare schemes.”

On the issue of party-switching MLAs, Revanth confirmed that his government would abide by court rulings. Meanwhile, BRS leaders have alleged discrepancies in the recently conducted caste census. Dismissing the accusations, Revanth maintained that the enumeration was conducted comprehensively and with accuracy.
