The Telangana government has delivered major news for job-seeking youth, giving the green signal to fill a large number of posts across the police department and its allied wings. The Finance Department has granted full clearance for the recruitment of a total of 7,437 jobs. Three days earlier, the department had approved 5,000 posts, and following demands from unemployed candidates, it recently added another 2,437 posts, raising the total number of vacancies to 7,437 through fresh orders.
With clearance from the Finance Department secured, the path is now clear for the release of notifications. The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) has officially confirmed that the draft notification for this direct recruitment is already ready. The mega recruitment covers not just the police department but four distinct wings — Police, Fire, Prisons, and the Special Protection Force (SPF).
Department-wise, the Police Department (GO No. 78) accounts for the largest share with 5,000 posts, including 3,697 Civil Constables, 1,052 Armed Reserve Constables, 148 Civil Sub-Inspectors, and smaller numbers of Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Reserve Sub-Inspectors, Drivers, and Mechanics. The Special Protection Force (GO No. 84) will fill 1,424 posts in the security wing, comprising 1,380 Constables and 44 Sub-Inspectors. The Fire Department (GO No. 80) has 790 posts in disaster management and firefighting, including 751 Fire Fighters and 39 Station Fire Officers, while the Prisons Department (GO No. 83) has 223 posts, including Deputy Jailers and Warders for both men and women.
On the timing of the official notification, TSLPRB Chairman V.V. Srinivasa Rao clarified that the board is still awaiting technical details from the Home Department’s Principal Secretary and respective department heads, including post divisions by local cadre, roster points, qualifications, and age limits. Once this process is complete, he said, the full official notification will be made available on the website within just a few days. After its release, complete details regarding eligibility, age limit, selection process, examination dates, and the application procedure will be announced.
