The Telangana Cabinet on Monday held its meeting at Medaram, marking the first time a Cabinet session was conducted outside the Secretariat. During the meeting, the Cabinet approved the conduct of municipal elections in the second week of February.

The Cabinet also gave the green signal for the constitution of a commission headed by a retired judge to study the reorganisation of districts. While the state government has already recognised the Medaram Jatara as a state festival, a decision on declaring a public holiday for the festival is likely to be taken during the Cabinet meeting.

Key decisions related to the development of the Mulugu constituency are also expected. In addition, the Cabinet is set to approve the report submitted by the Dedication Commission on reservations for municipal elections.

Earlier, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and other ministers inspected the command control centre established at Medaram. They reviewed the functioning of CCTV cameras, drone surveillance and AI-based monitoring systems, and held discussions with officials on security arrangements for the Medaram Jatara.
