Hyderabad: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana is expected to appoint a new state president soon, with increasing speculation around the leadership change. Several key leaders, including Etela Rajender, Member of Parliament (MP) from Malkajgiri, Dharmapuri Arvind, MP from Nizamabad, and leader Ramachandra Rao, are being considered as front-runners for the position.

With ongoing discussions within the BJP high command regarding the future leadership, the party is also considering the potential appointment of Murali Dhar Rao and DK Aruna as president. If one of them is chosen, there is a possibility that a B.C. (Backward Classes) leader will be appointed as the working president, sources suggest.
However, tensions are rising as some factions within the party fear strong opposition from B.C. groups if the presidency is given to a leader from the Reddy or Velama community. Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, the current leader of the state legislative assembly, is from the Reddy community, and if the leadership position is allocated to another Reddy or Velama leader, it could exacerbate internal divisions.
BJP sources confirm that the high command is deliberating on appointing a working president from the B.C. community, with Etela Rajender or Dharmapuri Arvind considered likely contenders. If a B.C. leader is appointed as president, the working president role may not be established.
With Panchayat elections approaching, the BJP is under pressure to finalize the new leadership, sparking interest in whether the party will announce the new president before the elections.
