Former Maheshwaram MLA Teegala Krishna Reddy has made a significant announcement, stating that he will soon be joining the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). This declaration comes following a meeting today in Amaravati with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, former minister Mallareddy, Malkajgiri MLA Marri Rajasekhar Reddy, and others. During the meeting, Mallareddy extended an invitation to Chandrababu to attend his granddaughter’s wedding.
After the meeting, Teegala Krishna Reddy addressed the media, expressing his commitment to restoring the glory of the TDP in Telangana. He asserted that the TDP would regain power in the state, and he predicted a wave of new joinings in the party in the near future. He mentioned that several MLAs, MPs, and former ministers are expected to align with the TDP. However, Mallareddy declined to speak with the media, leading to speculation about whether he, alongside Teegala Krishna Reddy and Rajasekhar Reddy, would also join the TDP.
Both Teegala Krishna Reddy and Mallareddy have political roots in the TDP. In 2014, Mallareddy contested successfully for the Malkajgiri MP seat on a TDP ticket, while Teegala Krishna Reddy won as the Maheshwaram MLA from the same party. Subsequently, both shifted their allegiance to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Mallareddy successfully contested as the Medchal MLA from TRS in the 2018 elections, while Teegala Krishna Reddy faced defeat. Afterward, Sabitha Reddy, who won as the Congress candidate, joined the TRS and became a minister. Since then, Teegala Krishna Reddy has expressed dissatisfaction with the TRS. He indicated that even after appointing a ZP chairman for his daughter-in-law, he remained unsatisfied. Following the Congress party’s return to power, he and his daughter-in-law joined the Congress, though he reportedly feels uncomfortable in the party. Sources indicate that he is contemplating a return to the TDP.
Mallareddy’s Political Maneuvers?
There are ongoing discussions about Mallareddy’s potential party switch, especially after the BRS lost power. Reports suggest that a series of notices concerning his properties and colleges, coupled with ongoing demolitions, may compel him to seek refuge in the ruling Congress. However, there are indications that Revanth Reddy is not entirely supportive of this move. In light of today’s meeting with Chandrababu and Teegala Krishna Reddy’s announcement about joining the TDP, speculation is growing that Mallareddy might also follow suit.
Political circles indicate that Mallareddy believes he would not face any challenges if he aligns with the TDP, a significant partner in the NDA government. Moreover, it is being discussed that he aims to strategize with Chandrababu and Revanth Reddy to manage the ongoing issues regarding his colleges and properties effectively.
