Hyderabad: In a significant development for Telangana Group-1 aspirants, the Supreme Court has dismissed petitions challenging Government Order (GO) No. 29, paving the way for the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to proceed with the recruitment process. Following the verdict, TGPSC has initiated preparations to begin certificate verification for qualified candidates.
The TGPSC had issued a notification in February 2024 for the recruitment of 563 Group-1 posts. The preliminary examination was held in June 2025, followed by the mains in October 2025. The results were declared on March 10, 2025, and the general rankings were released on March 30. However, a few aspirants approached the courts alleging injustice due to GO 29. The Supreme Court, after hearing the arguments, ruled that the contentions lacked merit and dismissed the petitions.
In a separate development, educationist Ashok Sir made serious allegations regarding irregularities in the Group-1 recruitment process. He claimed that a majority of the 563 posts were allegedly sold and accused TGPSC of favouritism. Citing the final results, he stated that 44% of the top 100 rankers belong to the OC category and alleged that financial influence played a major role in candidate selection.
Ashok Sir further alleged that the entire recruitment process was manipulated to benefit a specific group under the guise of EWS reservation and held Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and former TGPSC Chairman Mahender Reddy responsible. He termed the process a “scam” and demanded a comprehensive probe.
Despite the controversy, the Supreme Court’s decision has legally cleared the path for TGPSC to continue with the recruitment, a move welcomed by several aspirants awaiting the next stage of the process.
