Previously, the incident where former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked with a Kodikathi (knife) at Visakhapatnam Airport has come to light. Srinivasa Rao, a suspect in the case, was granted bail by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, a decision known to the public.
Subsequently, the NIA, the investigating agency, approached the Supreme Court seeking to overturn the bail order. However, the Supreme Court declined to intervene, affirming the High Court’s decision to grant bail. The attack, which occurred before the 2019 elections when Jagan was the opposition leader, had stirred significant political repercussions at the time.
