Khammam: The Khammam Sitarama project achieved a milestone with a successful trial run, conducted by irrigation officials near B.G. Kotturu in Ashwapuram mandal. The trial run, a critical step in the project’s development, highlights significant progress during the ongoing rainy season.
Efforts are underway on an urgent basis to facilitate the flow of Godavari water to the Wyra Reservoir through the Wyra Link Canal. This initiative is crucial for ensuring effective irrigation across Khammam and Mahabubabad districts. The project aims to irrigate a vast expanse of land, encompassing a total of 10 lakh acres. Specifically, it targets 4 lakh acres in Khammam district, 3 lakh acres in Bhadradri district, and 2.5 lakh acres in Mahabubabad district.
Minister Tummala has been closely overseeing the project’s construction, emphasizing its strategic importance in enhancing agricultural productivity and water resource management in the region. The successful trial run signifies a significant step forward in realizing the project’s objectives and meeting the agricultural needs of the local communities.
