Tensions escalated at Gudlavalleru Engineering College in Krishna District late Thursday night after hidden cameras were discovered in the girls’ hostel washroom. The protest, which lasted until 3:30 a.m., was sparked by claims that the college management had failed to address the issue despite its emergence a week earlier.

The situation worsened when a final-year BTech student was allegedly assaulted by peers for purportedly selling footage from the hidden cameras. The police responded by detaining several students and questioning Vijay, the student at the center of the controversy. Authorities recovered a laptop and a cell phone from him. There are also allegations that another student may have assisted Vijay in installing the cameras.

Students expressed their outrage on social media, criticizing the college management for their lack of action. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
